SEG Sections and Societies

SEG Sections and Societies

SEG works with organizations and trade unions around the globe to bring geophysical education and debate to geophysicists. These organizations have been recognized by SEG leadership as groups that can enhance the growth of the geophysical industry.

SEG also uses the Sections and Associated Societies to keep in touch with the industry. Sections and Associated Societies consist of members or others with geophysical interests. According to the Constitution, the terms Sections and Associated Societies are synonymous. Both receive the same benefits and have equal influence with SEG.

For more information on becoming affiliated with SEG as either a Section or an Associated Society, contact Kerry Cosby by e-mail, phone +1.918.497.4609, or fax +1.918.497.5568.

Related organizations
SEG recognizes that there are many beneficial geophysical organizations and societies with no professional ties to SEG other than the common goal of promoting the science.

Intersociety cooperation
In an effort to provide more to members, SEG is increasing its cooperative efforts with other societies.

Sections/Associated Societies
SEG and affiliated Sections and Associated Societies benefit from a common goal. Find out how to start a Section/Society with SEG.

Student Chapters
Students benefit from SEG's involvement with Student Chapters on university campuses around the world. The professional ties students develop, along with other benefits obtained from student membership, prepare them for a career in the worldwide field of geophysics. Organize the students on your campus and become an SEG Student Chapter.

Host an SEG Short Course
The Continuing Education Committee provides a booklet with instructions and guidelines for hosting an SEG Short Course (PDF download). Further information is also available through the Geoscience Education department.
