SEG Journals:

The Leading Edge (TLE): Published monthly, this gateway publication introduces new geophysical theory, instrumentation, and established practices to scientists in a wide range of geoscience disciplines. Most material presented in a manner that minimizes theory and emphasizes practical applications. Paper copies of TLE are sent with most memberships.

Geophysics: Published bimonthly, this archival, peer-reviewed journal contains articles relating to all aspects of applied geophysics. Its articles cover the entire spectrum of geophysical methods, including seismology, potential fields, electromagnetic, and borehole measurements. Published since 1936, Geophysics provides theoretical and mathematical tools needed to reproduce depicted work. The entire archive of technical articles is available online. A subscription to the print edition of Geophysics can be purchased for a nominal fee.

SEG members receive online access to the SEG Digital Library (Geophysics, The Leading Edge, Technical Program Expanded Abstracts, and the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Applied Geophysics, fourth edition). Online access includes a complete online archive of technical papers from TLE, Geophysics, and the Expanded Abstracts reference lists to full text of many cited sources, and links to articles that cite those being viewed. The archive includes Geophysics technical papers from 1936 through the current issue and TLE and the Expanded Abstracts from 1982 to the present. The online archive is served by the American Institute of Physics' (AIP) Scitation platform. A confirmation e-mail message containing a user ID and password that allows online access will be sent upon application processing. (An e-mail address is required for online access.) All members, upon renewing for the following year, will receive within the first 6 months a CD-ROM of TLE and Geophysics papers for the current year.

Yearbook: Published yearly and available only to SEG members, the SEG Yearbook includes a list of the Society's committees, meetings, educational opportunities, awards, publications, historical records, and governance documents. It is published on a DVD-ROM that also includes the previous year's journal articles and it is distributed to all members.

Reference Publications: SEG publishes books, CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, videos, and slide sets covering the entire spectrum of applied geophysics topics. SEG members receive major discounts on SEG publications; online ordering is available.

Meetings and Workshops: SEG meetings offer valuable education and networking opportunities to keep you on the leading edge in your career. SEG members receive substantial discounts on registration.

Annual Meeting: SEG's Annual Meeting and Exposition is the world's premier geophysical event, featuring more than 700 technical paper presentations and an exposition showcasing the latest in geophysical products and services. It regularly brings together more than 8,000 exploration industry professionals from around the globe.

Development and Production Forum: This annual event brings new and emerging development and production technologies into open discussion, with the dual purpose of education and exchange of ideas.

Summer Research Workshops: Held annually, this workshop examines, clarifies, and promotes research in a wide range of applied geophysics topics.

International Meetings: More than 50% of SEG's members live outside the United States, and one of the ways SEG serves them is through a growing international meetings program.

Professional Development: Members obtain essential training in geophysics and career-enhancing skills through Continuing Education courses and lecturers at special member prices. SEG offers continuing education courses, SEG/EAGE Distinguished Instructor Short courses, and Distinguished and Honorary Lectures.

Networking: SEG meetings and courses provide outstanding opportunities for geoscience professionals to network with their associates in academics and industry. Members also enjoy interaction with their peers through geographic sections and special-interest committees.

Members Only Web Page Access: Access the SEG Web to find information on the Society, to review and receive discounts on a variety of SEG products and services, to learn about Membership benefits or make changes to membership information, and to access the membership directory, an online search facility containing an updated list of SEG members.

Employment Referral: The SEG Employment Referral site gives members who are seeking new positions the ability to post a brief résumé. Helpful site links are also accessible as a service to our members that are career transitioning. Employers can use the same venues to post job opportunities.

AAPG-SEG Group Insurance Program: SEG, in partnership with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, offer health and life insurance coverage to geophysicists both in the United States and abroad.

Additional Benefits by Member Classification

Active members* shall enjoy all privileges of the Society. Additional benefits for Active members only:

• hold office,
• to vote on all matters submitted to the membership,
• to petition the Council or Executive committee on any matter,
• to sponsor applicants for membership, and
• to publish their affiliation with the Society. 

*Active members shall include Honorary, Life and Emeritus members.

Associate and Student members shall be entitled to attend the meetings of the Society, to receive its journals, and to purchase its publications on the same terms as Active Members.

Student members receive a print subscription to The Leading Edge and online access to the SEG Digital Library. Students can purchase a subscription to Geophysics in print for an additional US$45. Special Student Benefits include:

• Quarterly online newsletter, the Anomaly
• Minimal admission fee to the SEG Annual Meeting and Exposition
