Books program

Books program

Overview
SEG publishes a wide range of books, DVDs, and videos in several series, in print, on removable media, and online through SEG eBooks. The goal of SEG's books program is to facilitate dissemination of technical information among geophysicists throughout the world.

Book and digital data series
SEG publishes five to eight new books per year in several series, each distinguished by both the nature of subject coverage and by the physical characteristics of the books themselves. Click here to view descriptions.

Submission and review processes for proposals and manuscripts
SEG reorganized its Publications Committee and updated its procedures for proposal and manuscript submission, review, and approval in May 2008. Proposals and manuscripts should be submitted online through Aries System's Editorial Manager system. This system is used for online submission, peer review, and tracking. Authors and editors may download the book proposal submission worksheet provided below to help prepare for online submission.

Technical Standards
SEG Technical Standards are available for purchase in print from the SEG Online Book Mart. SEG also publishes all of its technical standards online and makes them available to any visitor to the SEG Web site.

Digital Data Support
SEG's Communications Department supports the Society's digital data products, primarily GEOROM®, the Expanded Abstracts Historical Series, and the SEG Yearbook (including GEOROM® Lite), all on DVD. SEG no longer supports Wordkeeper™, the search and retrieval software used in early versions of its disc products. However, those still in need of help using this software may find what they need on the Wordkeeper™ Support Page.

Purchasing SEG books
SEG books and other reference publications may be purchased online, by e-mail, phone, fax, or mail. Contact information for the SEG Book Order Department and ordering options are described in detail on the Online Book Mart contact page.

The Online Book Mart has descriptions of every publication available and includes mechanisms for ordering items securely online. SEG members can purchase most items in the portfolio at a discount of approximately 35% off the list price.

Corporations and college or university instructors are eligible for discounts through the SEG Corporate Book Discount Program or the SEG University Book Discount Program.

SEG eBooks
SEG publishes many of its books online through SEG eBooks, part of the SEG Digital Library. Institutions may purchase SEG eBooks via annual subscription to the entire collection or by perpetual access to individual titles. Individuals may purchase chapters within books, and in a few cases entire books, by credit card.

Errata
SEG strives to produce error-free books, but when errata are reported, the corrections will be available here. Please contact Jennifer Cobb to report additional errata.
