SEG eBooks offers 50 titles that have been published in print since 1991. SEG will add new books online as they are published in print and plans to add legacy titles in the years ahead. View available books and read their descriptions here.

The SEG eBooks collection is available to institutions via annual subscriptions to the entire collection or on a perpetual-access basis to individual titles. As with subscriptions to SEG journals and expanded abstracts, pricing for institutions is on two tiers. As with other publications in the SEG Digital Library, institutions may order through their subscription agents or through the American Institute of Physics’ Circulation & Fulfillment Service. Individuals can purchase chapters by credit card.

Nonmember and institutional subscriptions to the SEG Digital Library (SEG and EEGS research collections) are available for purchase through the American Institute of Physics or through your subscription agent. SEG is no longer including The Leading Edge with subscriptions to Geophysics.

Add The Leading Edge online to any Geophysics subscription: US$40 for academic institutions, public libraries, and nonmember individuals; US$200 for corporations and government agencies.


Research collections

The SEG Digital Library, hosted on AIP’s Scitation platform, includes two research collections available as a single subscription. Subscriptions to each of these research collections may be purchased separately, as may subscriptions to each publication. However, a subscription to the SEG Digital Library package provides access at a savings over the price of each of the publications purchased separately.

  • Geophysics (1936 to the present)
  • The Leading Edge (1982 to the present)
  • SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts (1982 to the present)
  • Encyclopedic Dictionary of Applied Geophysics, fourth edition


EEGS Research Collection

  • Journal of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics (1995 to the present)
  • Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems Proceedings (1988 to the present)

There are two pricing tiers for these SEG publications:

  • Academic institutions, public libraries, and nonmember individuals
  • Corporations and government agencies    

Subscriptions to the SEG Digital Library may be purchased with or without print for Geophysics, The Leading Edge, and/or the Journal of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics. Similarly, Geophysics and The Leading Edge subscriptions are available in various combinations of print and online form. Please see the rate sheet for details.

Those who do not have access to the full text of papers within the SEG Digital Library through member, nonmember, or institutional subscription may purchase articles online within the portal. Nontechnical articles are available for free download to all readers.
