Montana Tech’s Geophysical Engineering department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. The position will be at the assistant or associate professor level, depending on experience.

Candidates with a background in applied geophysics are requested to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in exploration seismology and industry experience. Candidates with a background and interest in petrophysics are encouraged to apply also. A Ph.D. in geophysics or related field is required.

Candidates should demonstrate potential for developing an active research program along with the potential for excellence in teaching. At the associate level, candidates must demonstrate having been successful in attracting external funding and demonstrate past teaching success. Excellent communication skills are required. Candidates with a PE or EIT license are preferred.

Duties include:

  • teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in geophysical engineering and introductory undergraduate physics courses
  • advising BS and MS students in geophysical engineering
  • developing/continuing an active externally funded research program
  • supervising research projects at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • providing service to the campus and community.

The starting date will be August 2014.
