Assistant Professor in Solid Earth Geophysics

The Department of Geology, part of the School of Earth, Society and the Environment (SESE), at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Solid Earth Geophysics. A PhD degree is required at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a prominent, externally funded research program and to provide excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.

We seek outstanding individuals within the broad area of solid-earth geophysics, including but not limited to, seismology, geodynamics, mineral physics, tectonics, and applied geophysics. Preference will be given to candidates who complement our existing strength with interdisciplinary interests in the department and across the campus.

Excellent opportunities exist for collaboration with other departments of SESE, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, the College of Engineering, the Prairie Research Institute, the Mid-America Earthquake Center, and the Beckman Institute.
