David H. Carlson

Dave Carlson received his BS in mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University in 1965 and his PhD in mathematics at Case Western Reserve University, 1969. Dave was a mathematics professor at the University of Missouri from 1969-1980. From 1980 to present he has been in the oil industry as a research software developer and held various management positions in oil exploration and service companies. He was an adjunct professor of geophysics at the University of Houston 1986-1995, teaching evening classes on the inversion of seismic data. He recently retired from Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) as Principal Research Geophysicist. Recent emphasis of activity has been in dual sensor acquisition and processing techniques. Earlier work (late 1980s) included over/under acquisition and processing techniques. He served on the SEG Continuation Education Committee (Chairman 2007-2008 and 2008-2009) and was member of the Geophysical Society of Houston (Spring Symposium General Chairman, 2010 and First Vice President, 2010-2011). He is a member of SEG, EAGE and GSH.
