Fred Hilterman

Fred J. Hilterman holds a geophysical engineering degree and Ph.D. in geophysics from the Colorado School of Mines. After working with Mobil Oil, he joined the Geology Department at the University of Houston where he was professor of geophysics and co-founder of UH Seismic Acoustic Laboratory. In 1981 Hilterman co-founded Geophysical Development Corp (GDC) and was Vice-President of Development. In 1998, GDC became part of Geokinetics, where he is Chief Scientist, Data Processing and Interpretation. He received SEG's Best Paper Award, Best Presentation Award, Virgil Kauffman Medal, Cecil Green Enterprise Award, and the Maurice Ewing Medal. He was honored with CSM's vanDiest Gold Medal and Distinguished Alumni Medal. Fred Hilterman was SEG President in 1996-97, served as General Chairman of the SEG 65th Annual Meeting, and is an Honorary Member of SEG and GSH.
