SEG Student Chapter Rankings

Student Chapter ranking and recognition is designed to empower SEG Student Chapters to join and lead projects that will address issues, challenges, or opportunities related to SEG's mission of promoting the science of geophysics.

Please note that all Student Chapters are required to submit an Annual Activity Report once per year in order to stay active. The deadline for submitting this year's activity report is 1 April.

Student Chapters are ranked based on the activities they report. To reach any of the three rankings below, you will need to demonstrate that your chapter participates in the following activities:

BASE Level

  • submit an annual report that includes:
    • membership roster
    • list of student chapter officers with contact information
    • list of activities performed and contacts made throughout the year

RIDGE Level

  • get involved in high school outreach efforts
  • participate in SEG student programs (SLS, SEP, Challenge Bowl, etc.)
  • submit an annual report
  • mentor other student chapters to climb higher!

SUMMIT Level

  • organize at least one student chapter activity every year (Challenge Bowl, IGSC, Field Trips, etc.)
  • get involved in high school outreach efforts
  • participate in SEG student programs (SLS, SEP, Challenge Bowl, etc.)
