The SEG global marketplace — The exhibition!
Be a part of the largest concentration of buying power for geophysical technology, products, and services in one place at one time! We invite your organization to participate in the SEG Annual Meeting International Showcase, which is part of an exhibition of over 350 leading companies in the geophysical industry. Involvement in the International Showcase is the ideal opportunity to network with over 9000 geoscience peers and professionals! The International Showcase is well known around the world as “the Global Meeting Place.” Join us in learning more about exciting opportunities and developing trends from the Middle East and other regions of the world. Over 600 technical presentations are also available and the Global Theater (located in the International Showcase) will host 20 presentations focusing
on challenges in the Middle East.
The SEG exhibition — The International Showcase!
The International Showcase is part of an exhibition with over 350 leading companies, government agencies, and research and education institutions. The showcase is an ideal location on the floor of the exhibition for new global companies, institutes, and universities introducing new products and services, especially within the Middle East (Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen). You can lease a soft-walled 10 ft x 10 ft booth in the showcase for US$2100 (see the Application and Contract form).
Why exhibit in the International Showcase?
Special opportunities for exhibiting in the showcase include: Meet the SEG president and SEG president-elect for photos at your booth during the Sunday Icebreaker, enjoy a Middle East-themed reception on Tuesday afternoon in the showcase, and benefit from attendees visiting the Global Theatre to learn from presentations given by noted Middle East geophysicists.
Grants
The 2009 SEG International Exposition and Seventy-Ninth Annual Meeting in Houston, USA, will also host up to 35 qualified exhibitors in the International Showcase. Grants are made possible by the generous sponsorships from many energy and production companies. This offer (to those eligible) includes a booth on the exhibit floor (normally US$2100 for a 10 ft x 10 ft soft-walled booth), two full-delegate registrations, airfare assistance, and a double-occupancy hotel room for six nights.

Application guidelines for exhibitors
Participation criteria
- Oil and gas company or energy ministry promoting hydrocarbon or mineral exploration opportunities or engineering or environmental geosciences applications in country.
- Government agency, research institute, or university presenting new, innovative geoscience technologies and policies developed within the past five years, including engineering, geohazards, and environmental.
- Geophysical organization or society, especially from the Middle East, presenting activities among companies and universities, or promoting best practices between neighboring societies and government agencies and geophysical training.
Exhibition booth
Booth space will measure 3 m x 3 m (10 ft x 10 ft) and will be furnished with one 2m (6 ft) draped table, two chairs, and an identification sign. Each participating company will receive mention in the Official Program and Exhibitors Directory that is distributed to all delegates. Companies from the Middle East and leasing two or more booths will have priority for best locations in the showcase.
To ensure a successful SEG Experience, the International Showcase recommends:
- Developing a clear and concise statement of your goals at the International Showcase. For example: What information do you find important for your international peers to learn about your organization and country? What opportunities are your bringing to the geosciences community?
- Designing your exhibit to support your goal statement with uncluttered, attractive, and informative maps, cross-sections, seismic displays, etc.
- Providing literature and contact information in English.
- Ensuring you have sufficient personnel to operate your booth during convention hours.
- Have your oral presentation prepared for your visitors.
PowerPoint presentations
If you are interested in showing a PowerPoint slide presentation in your booth, please plan on renting electricity and audiovisual equipment. This expense will not be covered by the International Showcase. We also recommend that you bring your own laptop computer.
Also, a PowerPoint Presentation (limited to three slides) may be given to the committee to run in the Global Theatre when there is no scheduled speaker. The presentation is meant to draw viewers into the exhibitors’ booths for more information and should be professional and creative.
Grant qualifications
To qualify for financial assistance from the International Showcase Committee, an exhibitor must meet economic need requirements.
Please consider the following before applying for a grant:
- Financial grants are limited by available sponsorship funds with priority to companies in the Middle East.
- Full grant packages include airfare assistance, one double-occupancy hotel room for six nights (chosen by the International Showcase committee), two full delegate registrations, and one exhibit booth.
- International Showcase exhibitors from the Middle East will receive preferential consideration for subsidized travel expenses, lodging, booth space, and registration costs.
- You must prepare 100 one-page information sheets on your country for high-school student tours on Wednesday and bring one fossil and one rock/mineral for on-site display and to give to the SEG Geoscience Museum.
If you are not selected for financial assistance, booth space is available for US$2100. In this case, payment must accompany the Exhibition Application and Contract Form to hold space.
