Description:

In 2011 the D&P Forum Series held a 5 day meeting in Beijing, China which brought together academic and industrial experts from around the globe to present and discuss the technical and economic issues and challenges in the development of unconventional resources. The registered attendance of 140 people presented a variety of topics from economics and geology to engineering and new technology applications.

To provide a flavor of the Forum and stimulate discussion, the SEG 2011 D&P workshop will reprise six of the major topics drawn from the Beijing D&P Forum:

  • Developmental economics for resources around the world – China, India, Europe & North America
  • Formation mechanisms, structures and geologic controls of resource plays
  • Hydrates, an exploitable resource?
  • Microseismic monitoring for stimulation monitoring
  • Numerical modeling for unconventional applications
  • Leveraging of reflection seismic data and processing for unconventional resource characterization
