Topics

Join us at the 2008 D&P Forum which will focus on the roles of data scaling and model uncertainty in reservoir characterization. Participants should be prepared to display posters, make presentations, and engage in group discussions that address questions relating to Scaling and Uncertainty.

Scaling

  1. When implementing reservoir characterization, how should we integrate all scales of reservoir data from cores, to logs, to seismic images, to well tests?
  2. Can we improve the degree of consistency among data that are used for reservoir characterization?
  3. What techniques should be used to correlate reservoir information extracted from data acquired with different measurement scales?
  4. How do variable scales-of-measure associated with the data used in reservoir characterization affect geologic, simulation, and economic models of a reservoir?
  5. How should we merge laboratory tests and field observations for optimal reservoir characterization?

Uncertainty

  1. How should we introduce uncertainty into reservoir characterization?
  2. What is the credibility of the data that are used to measure reservoir properties and characteristics?
  3. How do we merge uncertainty into production prediction and field economics?
  4. What are optimal techniques for estimating the uncertainty of reservoir data and the uncertainty associated with reservoir simulation and economics?
  5. Are the algorithms, data, or data-acquisition procedures that we can introduce into reservoir characterization that will reduce uncertainty?
  6. How do data quality and frequency of data acquisition affect uncertainty?.
