Call for Papers

This is an applied research workshop to discuss specific exploration and reservoir characterization issues that are important in Southeast Asia.

Topics will include (but are not limited to):

  • fluid and pressure prediction and measurement
  • imaging through shallow gas
  • fractured reservoirs
  • rock and fluid properties
  • high temperature and high pressure reservoirs

There will be a mixture of oral and poster presentations, and plenty of time will be scheduled for open discussions. In order to encourage audience participation, attendance will be limited to 100.

Abstract information

Abstract deadline: 25 February 2008

Abstracts are invited which conform to the SEG format of maximum length four (4) pages. The abstracts should be created in Adobe .PDF or MS Word documents.

The guidelines for preparing your abstract are as follows:

  • bold title at the top of the first page, centered
  • all authors and their company affiliations
  • an asterisk next to the presenter of the paper
  • leave a one (1) inch margin (2.54 cm) at the top, bottom, and both sides of your pages
  • number your pages

Workshop fees

US$620.00 per person on or before 25 March
US$720.00 per person after 25 March

Please note: Hotel costs, transportation costs, and meals for additional family members are not included in this registration fee.

Workshop process

  1. Committee will review applications and papers to determine acceptance.
  2. If you have been accepted you will be notified after 3 March.
  3. Once you have been accepted you will receive registration and housing information by e-mail.
  4. Register and pay the fee to attend the workshop.
  5. Make hotel reservations at Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
  6. Enjoy the workshop and make some great contacts.

SEG has secured a limited number of hotel rooms at the Mandarin Oriental; a discounted rate is available for meeting delegates.

Room Rates:
Deluxe City View Room: MYR540.00 or approximately US$163.00 plus tax.

You will receive reservation instructions once you have been accepted to attend this workshop.

Visa information & invitation letters

Participants in the Applied Research Workshop may generate an official invitation letter using the invitation letter form. This form will generate a letter which you can print and use in obtaining a visa.
