Making a Difference
From addressing critical water shortages to helping disaster risk reduction towards earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, and volcanic hazards, GWB-supported teams apply geoscience to build resilient communities.
Since 2008, GWB has funded global humanitarian projects that deliver real impact by connecting scientific expertise with communities in need. Increasingly, GWB project teams partner with local participants to develop applied geoscience solutions adapted for their most pressing challenges.

Geoscientists without Borders supports projects where applied geoscience directly improves lives and mitigates risk in vulnerable communities.
Fund projects with real-world impact.
Support projects that will benefit communities in need, where applying geoscience is critical to improving poor environments and living conditions, or where dangerous settings and hazards can be mitigated or reduced.
Build global, collaborative teams across disciplines.
Strengthen the global geoscience community through beneficial multidisciplinary partnerships and cooperation with other organizations such as those active in engineering, geosciences, and technology as well as various other science and humanitarian disciplines.
