SEG China celebrates formation of 18th Student Chapter
at China Ocean University

In honor of establishing its 18th SEG Student Chapter, China Ocean University and SEG China hosted an SEG promotion event on 10 December 2013.
The event, which was attended by about 50 participants, was designed to give the audience a broader introduction to SEG and encourage SEG membership for students and faculty members. Gary Liu, the Chief Representative of SEG China, gave an overview of SEG, touching on meetings and events, member benefits, special student benefits, University and Student Programs, and Continuing Education and Trainings. Rachel Zhang, Marketing & Business Development Manager of SEG China, gave a brief of the process for joining SEG.
In addition to the introduction and overviews, Dr. Alfred Liaw, SEG Board of Director, awarded a certificate on behalf of SEG to faculty advisor Professor He Bingshou. Liaw also gave a short presentation entitled SEG: Bridging Technology and People.
According to Wang Sheng, China Ocean University Student Chapter President, the university has 428 undergraduate students, 123 graduate students, and 26 PhD students majoring in geophysics – 10 of whom are already SEG student members.
After the event, 30 attendees expressed great interest in joining SEG, and the SEG China team will continue working to help students get the most out of their membership!
