TGS commences industry's first multiclient 3D survey in Erlend Basin, UK, west of Shetlands

10 May 2012 — TGS has commenced acquisition of a 3D multiclient survey covering 3210 km2in the Erlend Basin on the UK Continental Shelf, west of Shetlands.

This is the first multiclient 3D survey in the Erlend Basin and builds on the imaging shown by the reprocessed TGS North Sea Renaissance 2D data. The survey covers open blocks, which were offered in the UKCS 27th licensing round.

The new 3D data expand on TGS Northern North Sea 3D, survey making a total contiguous volume exceeding 10,000 km2.

TGS has chartered the M/V Polarcus Samur for the first phase of the acquisition. The remaining acquisition will be completed during the 2012 season by the M/V Polar Duchess, already on charter to TGS.

TGS acquires Volant Solutions

15 May 2012 — TGS announced that its Geological Products division purchased all the outstanding shares of Volant Solutions.

Volant is a small, six-employee technology company based in Houston that provides integration solutions for E&P companies to address the challenges of managing ever increasing quantities of geotechnical data. This integration of internal and external data sources with geoscience applications used by the industry enables scientists and engineers to reduce interpretation cycle time and increase efficiency.

Petris increases application interconnectivity with the release of PetrisWINDS Enterprise Petrel 2011 Plug-In

21 May 2012 — Petris Technologya released their PetrisWINDS Enterprise Petrel 2011 Plug-in.

PetrisWINDS Enterprise (PWE) is the cornerstone of Petris' portfolio of E&P information management solutions, providing enterprise interconnectivity and interoperability to the upstream E&P business. The new plug-in will now allow Petrel users to access digital well log data, stored in their various application data stores, through one unified search without leaving the Petrel environment. Such data stores include Techlog, Interactive Petrophysics, OpenWorks, GeoFrame, Geolog, and PetrisWINDS Recall.

Dolphin Geophysical announces new AVO friendly broadband product

21 May 2012 — Dolphin releases SHarp, a combined acquisition and processing broadband seismic product. The increased bandwidth and AVO friendly nature of the process allow the possibility of better use of amplitudes for direct hydrocarbon detection. The technique does not require special recording equipment so all their vessels are ready to offer this new product. The processing begins on board the vessels and is completed in their UK processing centre using OpenCPS software.

Paradigm releases Sysdrill 2012

21 May 2012 — Paradigm released the latest version of Paradigm Sysdrill 2012, an upgrade to the Sysdrill well planning and drilling engineering product suite. The upgrade includes many user-driven enhancements in product performance, well planning and survey management, and drilling engineering.

The new release offers advanced drilling engineering tools specifically designed to model the latest drilling techniques and equipment, such as tractor tools, swivel tools, divertor subs, and managed pressure drilling. These advances provide tools that can enable drilling engineers to more accurately and safely design extended reach and deep-water wells. Improvements also include the graphical schematic representation of bottom hole assemblies (BHA) for incorporation into drilling programs, and new survey management tools for quality control purposes. Sysdrill 2012 is fully compatible with the recent Paradigm 2011 release, enabling integrated subsurface well planning and real-time geosteering workflows.

TGS commences two multiclient 2D surveys in northwest Europe

22 May 2012 — TGS has commenced the Europe 2012 summer season with two multiclient 2D surveys in cooperation with Fugro; North Sea Renaissance 2012 (NSR12), and Norwegian Barents Sea 2012 (NBR12). The NSR12 survey is 8200 km and is a regional infill West of Shetland. The NBR 12 survey is 12,000 km and is a regional infill in the Barents Sea.

With these projects, TGS will continue to systematically build on the regional long-offset database in the United Kingdom West of Shetlands and the Norwegian Barents Sea. Upon completion of the 2012 acquisition season, the long-offset grid will total more than 300,000 km. The new long offset projects together with the previous year's programs will be important for companies in the early exploration phase as well as for license round preparation in both Norway and the UK.

The NSR12 survey is being acquired by the M/V Akademik Shatskyi and will be processed by TGS. The NBR12 survey is being acquired by the M/V Osprey Explorer and will be processed by both TGS and Fugro. Data will be available to clients during early 2013.

TGS announces expansion of multiclient 3D survey in the northern North Sea

22 May 2012 — TGS has commenced acquisition of a 3D multiclient survey covering 4,000 km2in the northern North Sea near the southern Møre Basin.

This survey, EOTW12, builds on the previously announced Erlend Basin multiclient 3D survey and ties with TGS' existing multiclient 3D database in the northern North Sea. Upon completion, EOTW12 will form part of a 13,000 km2 contiguous 3D volume in this region. The survey will derisk multiple play types spanning Cretaceous to Triassic age reservoirs and is adjacent to a current exploration well targeting the Albert prospect.

The seismic data being acquired by the M/V Polarcus Amani and M/V Polarcus Adira will be completed in late 2012. Data processing will be performed by TGS and be available to clients in 2013.

TGS commences new multiclient 3D wide azimuth survey in Gulf of Mexico

23 May 2012 — TGS has commenced acquisition of a 3D multiclient wide azimuth (WAZ) survey covering over 3,500 km2in the Gulf of Mexico.

The survey, Independence WAZ 3D, continues TGS Constitution group of WAZ projects, including Freedom, Liberty and Justice, which together total 27,622 km2in the deep water Gulf of Mexico.

The new seismic data are being acquired by a four-vessel WAZ fleet. The data will be processed by TGS and preliminary products will be available to participating companies in late 2012 with a final processed product expected in 2013.
