CGG appoints David Dragone as executive vice president, human resources

15 April 2013—Effective 2 April 2013, CGG appointed David Dragone as executive vice president, human resources (HR). Dragone takes over from Pascal Rosset who is assigned to other duties within the group. Dragone becomes a permanent member of CGG's executive committee and management committee. Dragone is based in Paris.

Dragone graduated with a MA in economics from the Pantheon-Sorbonne University and a MA in human resources from the Panthéon-Assas University in Paris.

Dragone began his career with Schlumberger as compensation and benefits analyst in 1998. He then held a number of HR positions before becoming HR director for the EMEA region and HR director for the technology centers of Schlumberger's seismic division. In March 2007, he joined the Areva group as vice president, HR, first for its mining division and then for its upstream division. Dragone joined CGG in June 2012 as senior vice president, talent management and people development.

 

USGS seeks proposals for earthquake research

15 April 2013—The U.S. Geological Survey will award up to US $4 million in grants for earthquake hazards research in 2014. Interested researchers can apply online at GRANTS.GOV under funding opportunity number G13AS00029. Applications are due 6 June 2013.

Each year the USGS awards earthquake hazards research grants to universities, state geological surveys, and private institutions. Past projects included cataloging earthquakes in southern California to better prepare emergency responders, the public, and the media about earthquakes; providing seismic hazard estimates so communities and critical institutions can engineer their buildings and roads to be structurally sound; and analyzing data on ground shaking to help minimize damage. CGG and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs create ship management joint venture

15 April 2013—CGG and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group (LDA) announced the creation of a ship management joint venture, GeofieLD Ship Management Services. Co-owned 50 % by CGG and 50 % by LDA, the new joint venture will provide maritime ship management services for five of CGG's high-capacity 3D seismic vessels.

The joint venture will be based in Suresnes, France. Alain Coatanhay from LDA will be the chairman of this new joint venture and David Rapidel from CGG has been appointed as managing director.

 

SIGMA3 announces Kevin McKenna as vice president of technology solutions

17 April 2013—SIGMA3 Integrated Reservoir Solutions, Inc. promotes Kevin McKenna to vice president, technology solutions. In his new role, McKenna will be responsible for commercialization of the SIGMA3 portfolio of software technologies to meet the market-driven needs of global E&P companies.
