Dolphin reaches exclusive agreement to purchase Quantum GeoServices

30 July 2013—Dolphin Geophysical has reached an exclusive agreement to purchase Quantum GeoServices (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd. The agreement is subject to due diligence and is expected to be completed in early August. Based in Singapore, Quantum provides seismic data processing services including multicomponent, multiclient products and training for data processing within the Asia Pacific region.

 

SeaBird Exploration Plc: Update on SeaBird contract award

31 July 2013—SeaBird Exploration has elaborated on its announcement that the company has been awarded a contract for a marine 3D seismic survey awarded by Global Petroleum Group Limited, (GPG) in the Grenada offshore basin.

GPG has revealed that based upon its 2D seismic lines recently processed by Houston, Texas-based TRICON Geophysics, (TRICON), the area to be surveyed has been characterized as having a high potential for significant hydrocarbon deposits. In this context, GPG and Blackwater Subsea, also a Houston based firm, are in talks on the final design of a development plan and project management for the initial drilling phase scheduled during 2014.

SeaBird is employing its eight-streamer 3D vessel, the Geo Pacific, which has recently successfully completed another 3D survey in the Caribbean region and is currently mobilizing for the Grenada program.

 

TGS announces three new offshore multiclient surveys

1 August 2013TGS announced three new multiclient surveys; a 3D survey in UK West of Shetlands and two 2D surveys offshore Newfoundland-Labrador.

Rona Ridge 2013 (RR13) is a 2420 km23D survey that will provide the industry's first 3D data in the highly prospective UK West Shetland Basin. Data processing will be performed by TGS with initial data available to clients in late 2013 ahead of the UK 28thlicensing round.

The Labrador Sea Deep Basin 2D survey covering 3000 km and the Labrador Sea 2D Infill survey covering 7100 km will complement and infill the existing 22,167 km of 2D data acquired in 2011 and 2012. These surveys will further define and delineate the Henley, Chidley, and Holton basins. Both surveys will be acquired in partnership with PGS and utilize the PGS GeoStreamer technology. Data acquisition will commence in August 2013 and initial data will be available to clients mid 2014.

 

Geotrace names Dean Clark as Far East area manager

1 August 2013Geotrace Technologies named Dean Clark as area manager for Far East operations. Clark will be based in the Geotrace Kuala Lumpur office.

Clark has a background in seismic imaging as well as reservoir characterization, software sales, and management. Prior to joining Geotrace, Clark spent time working in India as the director of consulting in the Asia Pacific region for Paradigm, a software developer specializing in sub-surface technology for the oil and gas industry. Earlier, Clark headed Paradigm’s consulting business in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Clark spent time at Schlumberger and Geco-Prakla where he began in seismic data processing before making the switch to information solutions in 2000 as Paradigm’s operations manager for India. Clark has a BS in physics and a BS in geophysics from Newcastle University.
