Schlumberger introduces advanced microseismic data processing for well completion design

12 August 2013—Schlumberger announced the introduction of a new moment tensor inversion service that provides enhanced analysis of the dynamics of hydraulic fracture propagation. The proprietary processing used in the moment tensor inversion service accounts for anisotropy.

The moment tensor inversion service has been field tested on microseismic projects in North America. Analyses of moment tensor inversion processing during field trials in the Permian Basin confirm that the incorporation of anisotropy leads to improved interpretation of microseismic data and more robust geomechanical models.

 

Geosoft introduces UXO Marine

13 August 2013—Geosoft has introduced UXO Marine, a new software solution for the detection and classification of cables, pipelines, and unexploded ordnance in underwater environments using geophysics.

UXO Marine combines magnetic data processing, analysis, and visualization tools with a dedicated workflow that enables surveyors to conduct marine site investigations with improved effectiveness and accuracy. The software supports data acquired from single and multiple magnetometer arrays as well as fixed distance transverse gradiometers.

 

CRYSTAL 2013 drives reliable EUR estimates and better decisions via integrated fracture monitoring, hydrofrac data, and geomodel predictions

13 August 2013—SIGMA³ Integrated Reservoir Solutions launched the enhanced CRYSTALT 2013, a platform for geophysicists and modelers, at the inaugural Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC). CRYSTAL 2013 helps GeoEngineers build models that connect microseismically derived stimulated reservoir volume to actual produced volumes in the context of 3D seismic, geologic, and well log data.

CRYSTAL 2013 drills deeper into available data with new SIGMA³tools, including broadband-spectral inversion capabilities for resolution enhancement and specialized tools for natural fracture modeling.

 

Katalyst launches SeismicZone

14 August 2013—Katalyst launched SeismicZone, a new model for licensing seismic data. SeismicZone is a transaction-based e-commerce Web site that gives exploration stakeholders access to current seismic data available across North America, stored digitally in a secure infrastructure. SeismicZone allows geoscientists to view available seismic data 24/7 and select areas of quality-checked data to license using a map interface
