Business News for the week of 19 August 2013 News section front TGS commences multiclient 2D survey in northeast Greenland 19 August 2013—TGS has commenced expansion of a 2D multiclient survey in northeast Greenland. The survey, NEG13, is in preparation for the announced Greenland licensing round in 2013/2014. Because of favorable ice conditions, TGS expects to acquire 4200 km of 2D multiclient seismic data. This new data will provide companies with dense data coverage over the licensing area. The seismic data are being acquired by the M/V Akademik Shatskiy supported by the ice breaker M/V Viking Balder. A helicopter is being utilized for ice density monitoring. Data processing will be performed by TGS and data will be available to clients in early 2014.

TGS announces 3D multiclient onshore survey in south central Alberta, Canada 22 August 2013—TGS, through its subsidiary Arcis Seismic Solutions, announced a new 3D multiclient onshore survey, Three Hills East, covering 150 km2 (58 mi2) in the south central plains of Alberta, Canada. The Three Hills East survey is designed to evaluate multiple zones from the Devonian (Nisku), the Mississippian (Banff and Pekisko), and the Cretaceous (Ellerslie and Ostracod) in the newly emerging Duvernay play. The survey's optimal acquisition parameters, enhanced imaging, and rock property assessments will provide greater assistance with the placement of horizontal wells in this highly prospective area. Permitting is under way and data acquisition is expected to commence in September 2013. The seismic data will be processed by Arcis, and final data will be available to clients in late 2013. |
