OTC Brasil 2013 Features Top Industry Leaders
Speaker line-up includes major players in the offshore Brazil market
17 September 2013, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—The technical program for the Offshore Technology Conference Brasil (OTC Brasil) 2013 has been finalized and features executives from companies including Petrobras, Schlumberger, Total, Shell, Chevron, Baker Hughes, ExxonMobil, and BP. The 3-day conference and exhibition will occur 29-31 October in Rio de Janeiro. Organized by OTC and the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP), the conference and exhibition focuses on Brazil's deepwater offshore sector.
The robust technical program, which includes more than 250 peer-selected technical papers, will assess all aspects of offshore drilling and wells systems, floating structures, and advanced subsea production, as well as the increasingly complex integrity management used to keep them operating.
Tuesday's opening session features keynote speakers Maria das Graҫas Foster, CEO, Petrobras; and Lars Christian Bacher, development and production international executive vice president, Statoil.
New this year, OTC Brasil adds the popular luncheon series, which offers top level executives and experts who discuss regional and international issues. Magda Chambriard, general director, ANP, serves as keynote speaker for Tuesday's "Brazil Pre-Salt Bidding Round" topical luncheon.
Wednesday highlights include a morning panel session on "Perspectives on E&P in the South Atlantic." The session, moderated by João Carlos de Luca of Barra Energia and IBP's president, will present explorationists' views on some of the new exploratory frontiers in both sides of the South Atlantic with special emphasis on the Equatorial Margin. Panelists include José Formigli, E&P director Petrobras; Malcolm Brown, executive vice president exploration, BG; Mark Shuster, exploration executive vice president, Shell; Eunice Carvalho, president, Chevron Brasil; and Rocky Becker, vice president Americas, ExxonMobil.
Dennis Palluat de Besset, head of Total's Brazilian Unit, will serve as keynote speaker for the "Total Exploration Strategy in Latin America" topical luncheon.
The afternoon features the "Pre-Salt" panel session moderated by OTC Chairman Ed Stokes of ConocoPhillips. The session provides a comprehensive discussion on pre-salt including new techniques and lessons learned on pre-salt logistics, fluids processing, material requirements, project management, and well construction. Panelists, all from Petrobras, include Carlos Tadeu da Costa Fraga, Ana Maria Teixeira de Andrade, Cezar Augusto Silva Paulo, Pedro Chaves Moreira, Carlos Joia, Ricardo Beltrão, and Renato Pinheiro.
Thursday morning's "Offshore Heavy Oil" technical session highlights the engineering concepts and approaches that lead to the successful development of heavy oil offshore fields. This session will focus on solutions developed in the Brazilian fields and engineering solutions applied to heavy oil fields.
Also on Thursday morning, the "Implementation of Offshore Mega Projects in Brazil: Challenges and Opportunities" panel session will feature panelists who have participated in mega projects and can share experiences and insight.
The day offers two topical luncheons: "Local Construction of 28 New State-of-the-Art Drilling Rigs" featuring Sete Brasil CEO João Ferraz and "Local Content and Petrobras Vendor Registration" with Paulo Alonso, content advisor to CEO, Petrobras.
OTC Brasil 2013 includes an exhibition that showcases the latest technologies and equipment from more than 250 companies. In addition to a host of Brazilian companies, exhibitors from the United States, Canada, China, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, and the United Kingdom will also be in attendance.
