Chaoyang Dist. Beijing and Tulsa, OK – 01 August 2013 – SEG China has co-organized the first National Exploration Geophysics Contest for College Students (NEGCSS) with China University of Petroleum (CUP) in Beijing, supported by SPG and BGP. The contest commenced in June and concludes in October, 2013. The contest aims to strengthen student integration of applied exploration geophysics by building a platform that allows students majoring in Geophysics and related studies to practice, innovate, and communicate with other students. By participating in the contest, students are able to put into practice the skills that can make them more marketable to exploration geophysics companies.

The 17 SEG student chapters in China are invited to participate in the contest, including Chengdu University of Technology Geophysical Society, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), China University of Geosciences Geophysical Society, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Northeast Petroleum University, Graduate School of RIPED Geophysical Society, Jilin University Geophysical Society, Northwest University Geophysical Society, Peking University Geophysical Society, Southwest Petroleum Institute Geophysical Society, Tsinghua University Geophysical Society, University of Central South Geophysical Society, University of Petroleum (E China) Geophysical Society, University of Science & Technology China Geophysical Society, University of Tongji Geophysical Society, and Yangtze University Geophysical Society.
