Technical program
A diverse program is scheduled for San Antonio, having been created from more than 800 abstracts received for review from all geophysical disciplines and all parts of the world. The full Technical Program schedule with all of the accepted abstracts is available online at the following link.

SEG Forum series
The SEG Forum, a gathering of top executives who articulate the science and philosophy behind their companies’ experience, will focus on Unconventional Resources. The most-attended presentation session at the Annual Meeting, the forum on Monday, 24 September, will attract more than 8000 industry professionals. The distinguished panel of speakers includes: Larry Lunardi, Vice President of Chesapeake Energy Corporation; Jean-Marie Masset, Senior Vice President, Total; Sverre Strandenes, President of Research and Development, PGS; and Ray Boswell, geologist, U.S. Department of Energy. Bob Tippee, editor, Oil & Gas Journal will be the moderator.

SEG 77th Honors and Awards ceremony
The SEG Honors & Awards Committee cordially invites all members to attend the SEG 77th Honors & Awards ceremony to recognize and to honor talented individuals and organizations that have advanced the science of geophysics and benefited society.

GAC events
Four Global Affairs Committee Luncheon Meetings are scheduled during this year’s Annual Meeting. All delegates with international interests are invited to enjoy regional cuisine and entertainment and hear presentations from speakers with companies in India, Italy, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia. Tickets for these meetings can be purchased onsite two days in advance at the Event Ticket Sales Booth located in the Registration Area. Attendees will be asked to produce tickets at the events.

International Showcase
The organizers of "Latin America–Beyond Borders" invite you to visit over 30 exhibitors from around the world (many from Latin America) and attend the 25 and 26 September business and technical sessions on Latin America at the Global Theater in the exhibition hall. Professional Development
Register now for the 2007 SEG/EAGE Distinguished Instructor Short Course (DISC) and Continuing Education courses, which will be conducted in San Antonio 21–23 September. After 7 September, onsite registration will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Make plans to visit the SEG Professional Development booth (#771) to learn more about your educational opportunities and pick up information on the SEG/EAGE DISC, the Distinguished Lecturer program, Regional Lecturer program, current and future speakers, and the Digital DISC. Applied Science Education Program
A special feature of the meeting is the Applied Science Education Program that is free to delegates. Join speaker Michael E. Wysession, Associate Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis (USA), as he leads the audience on "A Geophysical Journey to the Center of the Earth." Area high school teachers and students grades 9–12 are invited to sign up for this free program. This will be an unforgettable educational experience for those in attendance. The program will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on the morning of 26 September.

SEG Challenge Bowl finals
Watch the regional finalists compete for the cash prize on 24 September in the 2nd SEG Challenge Bowl, an international contest testing students’ breadth and depth of knowledge in the field of geoscience. The quiz show format will feature three rounds of intense competition as the contestants attempt to buzz in first with the answers to challenging geoscience questions. Between rounds, recruiters from companies will answer questions about what their company has to offer to new graduates looking for a meaningful career in the earth sciences. The Challenge Bowl will be held in the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter.

Student Reception
Mix and mingle with company sponsors, geoscience professors, and your peers from on the evening of 24 September in the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter. Networking is a key part of business in any career, so take a moment to learn from those already in the field and enjoy an evening of music, prizes, food and fun. Get your best tunes ready for the karaoke contest and work up your moves for the dance contest. This is one event you won’t want to miss! Students wishing to consume alcoholic beverages must bring their ID. The legal age to consume alcohol is 21.

Golf tournament sold out – tournament location change
The 2007 SEG San Antonio Golf Tournament announces a change in course locations. The golf tournament will now be hosted by Canyon Springs Golf Club, located in north central San Antonio at the edge of the beautiful Texas Hill Country, and resides amidst the original Claussen Homestead. The course change is due to the amount of precipitation that The Quarry Golf Course received in the past few weeks. The Canyon Springs Golf Club is a comparable and beautiful course with rich history and displays its historical past even today. The tournament will take place on Saturday afternoon, 22 September, and will be Four-Man Texas Style Scramble. Spouse Program
Great excitement and entertainment is planned for this year's Spouse Program! You will want to take advantage of the tours and free seminars. At the luncheon Tuesday, 25 September, Mariachis will fill the air with their exhilarating sounds. Heloise, creator of the popular syndicated column “Hints from Heloise,” will provide the featured entertainment. Make plans now to attend the festivities!

Postconvention workshops
Nine postconvention workshops will take place 27–28 September at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The schedule and descriptions of each workshop have been posted online.

SEG Advanced Modeling Project
The SEG Advanced Modeling Phase I is well on its way and currently has 13 participants. SEAM encourages other interested companies to join in developing this exciting new project. Please visit the SEAM Web site for additional information.

Call for Papers in Cartagena
The National Hydrocarbon Agency ANH and the Colombian Association of Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists announced a Call for Papers for III Colombia Oil & Gas Investment Conference, to be held concurrently with the Conventional & Unconventional Hydrocarbon Resources International Congress, which is organized by AAPG and SEG. The events are 4–8 February 2008 in Cartagena, Colombia. The deadline for submissions is 26 October.
