Notification for abstract authors
After receiving a near-record amount of abstract submissions for this year's Annual Meeting in Houston, USA, the Houston Technical Program Committee has been hard at work. The Technical Program schedule will be finalized in the coming months, and authors should expect to receive notification regarding the status of their abstracts later this month.

Annual Meeting courses
The 2009 SEG Annual Meeting course schedule has been announced. View the course schedule online and find full course descriptions on the curriculum page. Course registration, as well as registration for the Annual Meeting itself, will open on Wednesday, 8 July.

“Petroleum geoengineering” DISC continues
The 2009 SEG/EAGE Distinguished Instructor Short Course (DISC) titled Petroleum geoengineering: Integration of static and dynamic models will be in Tokyo, Japan, on 19 June; Bangkok, Thailand, on 22 June; and Jakarta, Indonesia, on 24 June. Distinguished and Honorary Lecturers

DL and HL nominations solicited
The SEG Distinguished Lecture Committee is soliciting Distinguished Lecturer (DL) nominations for fall 2010 SEG/AAPG DL, and Honorary Lecturer (HL) nominations for Central & South America, Middle East & Africa, and North America regions for 2010. If you would like to submit a nomination(s), complete the DL nomination form and/or the HL nomination form and submit it via e-mail by 31 July.

Summer Research Workshop
The 2009 Summer Research Workshop, CO₂ Sequestration Geophysics, will be held 23-27 August 2009 in Banff, Canada. Make plans now to attend this exciting workshop where challenges and techniques will be discussed and new ideas will be formulated. The advance registration deadline is 13 July 2009.

CSEG Microseismic Workshop
Having been used for years in mining and geothermal applications, the use of microseismic methods by the oil and gas industry is still in its infancy.
