Geophysics’ impact factor No. 2 all time
Geophysics garnered a 1.349 impact factor for 2008, the second-highest mark in the journal’s history. Editor Kees Wapenaar says this performance indicates the journal is strengthening its position as the premier journal in applied geophysics.

Approximately 300 SEG/Las Vegas 2008 presentation files—mostly PowerPoints and PDFs, some augmented with video—are available for download alongside the Technical Program Expanded Abstracts with which they are associated.

The SEG Distinguished Lecture Committee is soliciting Distinguished Lecturer (DL) nominations for Fall 2010 SEG/AAPG DL, and Honorary Lecturer (HL) nominations for Central & South America, Middle East and Africa, and North America regions for 2010. If you would like to submit a nomination(s), complete the DL nomination form and/or the HL nomination form and submit it via e-mail by 31 July.

Advanced SRW registration due soon
The advanced registration deadline for the Summer Research Workshop 23–27 August 2009 in Banff, Canada, is 13 July. The advanced registration fee is US$655 per person. Register soon! DISC explores “Petroleum geoengineering
The 2009 SEG/EAGE Distinguished Instructor Short Course (DISC) titled Petroleum geoengineering: Integration of static and dynamic models will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 18 August; Zhuozhou, China, on 20-21 August; Beijing, China, on 24-25 August; and Ahmedabad, India, on 28 August.
