Why, why now, and how?
As SEG's 80th Annual Meeting and Exposition approaches, so does a Council vote that could become a landmark in SEG governance history. Arthur Cheng, Vice President of SEG, articulates his view on the upcoming proposal and shares insights on governance from his own personal experiences on the Executive Committee.

Selected Technical Program Presentations on DVD-ROMtechdvd
For the first time, SEG will be recording more than 150 technical program presentations and making them available for purchase on DVD-ROM. DVD-ROMs feature audio of the speakers synchronized with slide presentations. Orders can be placed at the sales booths near the Registration Area or in the SEG Pavilion in the Exhibition Hall. DVD-ROMs will be delivered 6-8 weeks after Annual Meeting. Order the Technical Program DVD-ROM online or contact us for more information.

In October, the 2010 SEG/EAGE DISC will visit the Middle East, North Africa, Denver and Europe. Colin Sayers presents Geophysics Under Stress: Geomechanical Applications of Seismic and Borehole Acoustic Waves. View the schedule or read more information about the presentation. The course book is available for purchase in the SEG Book Mart.

On-site registration for Continuing Education Courses and for the DISC is on a first-come, first-served basis and takes place from 7:00-8:00 AM the morning the course begins. On-site registration is not guaranteed. Space is limited. Annual meeting registration is not required to attend these pre-meeting courses.

Subsalt Exploration and Development Call for Papers
SEG invites papers on the topic of Subsalt Exploration and Development for publication in the September-October 2011 special section or supplement of Geophysics. The submission deadline is 30 November 2010.


The October TLE features a special section on multicomponent seismic. It also includes a special Bright Spots column covering some of the articles in the 75th anniversary issue of Geophysics. Those members following the proposed changes to SEG governance and bylaws will enjoy the discussion in the Signals column. Be sure to check out the reader-friendly TLE digital edition or the TLE in the SEG Digital Library.
