High water for hydrogeophysics

SEG members are awash in high-quality hydrogeophysics papers.

The application of geophysical techniques to water-resources problems is the focus of a special section of The Leading Edge and a special double issue of EAGE’s Near Surface Geophysics.

The TLE articles are available for free download by all site visitors, and EAGE has made the Near Surface Geophysics articles available to SEG members via a special login.

Rick Miller, chairman of the TLE Editorial Board and guest editor for the special section, has assembled six papers for the October TLE that describe several hydrogeophysics techniques, one supported by a case history. He ties them together with an introduction that stresses the high value of geophysics in managing one of the world’s most essential resources.

A team of four editors with strong SEG and EAGE ties guided the effort to produce “Hydrogeophysics—Methods and Processes,” the October and December issues of Near Surface Geophysics. Louise Pellerin, Klaus Holliger, Lee Slater, and NSG Editor Ugur Yaramanci selected 27 papers developed after an initial call for papers drew 70 statements of interest and approximately 40 submissions.

EAGE has made the Near Surface Geophysics papers available to SEG members via a login provided on a members-only page. Once you are logged in as a member, you will be presented with a Web page that will display the user name and password that will provide access to the full text of the articles.

EAGE also is providing print copies of these issues of Near Surface Geophysics at a special price to SEG members. SEG members can preorder this double issue for 60 euros—a 20% reduction off the normal price—using an order form available for download.

The wave of hydrogeophysics publications will continue during 2010 with a special section of Geophysics focusing on electric and electromagnetic methods, to be published with the July-August 2010 issue.
