Board of DirectorsThe following Active Members have been selected by the SEG Committee on Nominations and agreed to be candidates for the 2012 – 13 board of directors:
Note: Four of the six directors-at-large were selected because of their expertise in the specific areas mentioned above for this election. These areas will be reviewed and set by the Board annually. SEG's current president-elect, David Monk, will serve as president, Bob Hardage will serve as past president, Richard Miller will serve as first vice president, and Tamas Nemeth will serve as editor on the 2012-13 board of directors. The chair of Council position will be elected by the Council in a separate election.
District ElectionsIn addition to the board of directors election, eight Districts are holding elections for representatives. Districts 2, 7, and 10 have two seats to fill and Districts 4, 5, 6, 8, and 11 have one seat to fill. The nominees are:
Nominations in writing, signed by at least forty Active Members and accompanied by the written consent of the candidate and a brief biography, ready for publication, may be submitted prior to 15 May. The biographies of the board candidates and their position statements are published in the July issue of TLE. Survey & Ballot Systems, Inc. will handle SEG elections again this year and will send out paper ballots by 15 June. Eligible voters who have a valid e-mail address on file with SEG will receive personalized pass code information in an e-mail. Voting will end on 31 July with results announced mid-August. The new board will begin its term at the end of the 2012 Annual Meeting and complete its term at the end of next year's Annual Meeting. Elected District Representatives will begin their terms at the 2012 Annual Council Meeting and serve through the 2014 Council. Active, Emeritus, Honorary, and Life members are eligible to vote on all matters submitted to the membership; however members failing to pay dues by 1 June will not be eligible to vote in the 2012 election.
2012 member update requestIn preparation for the upcoming board election, SEG is asking all members to update their member information, especially mailing address, e-mail, and SEG Section/Associated Society affiliation. A primary Section/Associated Society will need to be designated if you have multiple affiliations.
