SEAM selected for RPSEA Ultra-Deepwater Program

SEAM is one of nine proposals selected for negotiations

18 August 2008—The SEG Advanced Modeling Corporation (SEAM) has been selected for project 2007DW2001 Geophysical Modeling for Studying Acquisition and Processing Methods in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico". Funds of up to US$2 million will be awarded on a cost-share basis. The SEAM Phase I project which serves as the foundation for the RPSEA selection is available online.

The Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA) announced 28 July 2008 that nine proposals have been selected for negotiations leading to an award under the Ultra-Deepwater Program (UDW). This program is focused on increasing the supply of natural gas and other petroleum resources in the U.S. in an environmentally responsible way.

The selected projects will address the specific technology and architecture needs required in water depths greater than 1500 meters.  These substantial but challenging resources require a complex and integrated systems approach, where the time from first discovery to first production can range from six to nine years, and individual well costs can exceed $100 million. Please see the RPSEA press release for more information.
