EMGS completes survey in Barents Sea 15 August 2008—Electromagnetic Geoservices has completed the world's largest multiclient electromagnetic survey in the Barents Sea, ahead of Norway's 20th exploration licensing round. The survey area, at more than 9000 km2 and covering 30 blocks, includes all the Barents Sea acreage in the licensing round. Sensornet commercializes new fiber-optic DTS cables 18 August 2008—Sensornet has developed a new high performance SureSight fiber-optic distributed temperature cable range which can withstand extreme heat and operate in the harshest downhole environments. Used for high temperature wellbore monitoring, the SureSight cables withstand temperatures up to 300ºC (572ºF), which are often experienced in steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) and cyclic steam injection (CSS) wells in steamflood reservoirs. By providing real-time permanent monitoring for enhanced recovery and proactive management, the technology marks a step change in performance from traditional technologies. Geotrace Joins the Edinburgh Anisotropy Project 14 August 2008—Geotrace announced its participation as a three-year sponsor in the Edinburgh Anisotropy project. This sponsorship will allow Geotrace to further enhance its four-component processing and participate in research into new anisotropic capabilities. PGS awarded 3D survey onshore Mexico 9 August 2008—PGS Mexicana was awarded a contract by Pemex for an onshore seismic survey in the states of Veracruz and Puebla, Mexico. The survey will be carried out from 2008 to 2012. The area to be surveyed is more than 2000 km2. The total contract value amounts to approximately US$165 million. | | |
