Business news for the week of 26 November 2008 Past news briefs Woodside Energy selects Paradigm software for U.S. operations 12 November 2008—Woodside Energy selected Paradigm’s next-generation geology and geophysics solutions for developing leases in the Gulf of Mexico. Woodside selected Paradigm’s technology for interpretation and velocity modeling. Paradigm will provide Woodside with industry solutions for workflows spanning seismic processing, velocity analysis, stratigraphic delineation, structural interpretation, formation evaluation, and reservoir modeling. SCAN Geophysical receives LOI for 2D project offshore Argentina 13 November 2008—SCAN Geophysical announced that it has been selected by GX Technology to acquire up to 8000 km of long-offset 2D data, a part of which will be used to complete GXT’s ArgentineSPAN program. In order to meet the conditions and objectives of this project, GXT and SCAN have agreed to mobilize SCAN’s high-capacity 2D vessel, M/V GEO Searcher. Acquisition is scheduled to commence immediately upon arrival in Argentina. FusionGeo ports seismic applications to Windows HPC Server 2008 10 November 2008—FusionGeo announced that its SpecMAN, ExSpect, and ThinMANseismic analysis applications now support Microsoft Windows HPC Server 2008. These applications are designed to generate and analyze spectral and other seismic attributes that are used for exploration and production of petroleum and natural gas. Windows HPC Server 2008 integrates with existing Windows infrastructures and is interoperable with existing resources. Paradigm posts scientific challenge to InnoCentive 19 November 2008—Paradigm announced that it has posted a scientific challenge to InnoCentive’s Open Innovation Marketplace. Paradigm’s challenge prompts InnoCentive’s Solver community to develop an advanced approach to fracture net representation. Paradigm’s challenge specifically targets an ability to combine fault interpretation picks (vectors) to form high-performance representations of 3D fracture networks. Paradigm signed a contract with InnoCentive in October 2008 to augment internal technology development and accelerate innovation delivery to the industry. Paradigm previews SKUA 2009 18 November 2008—Paradigm previewed SKUA Prospect Architecture, a new module available with Paradigm SKUA 2009. This module is designed to help geophysicists and geologists generate higher-quality prospect maps. Using this new module, the Earth model and the interpretation are quality-controlled and edited simultaneously while creating a water-tight structural model ready for velocity modeling and time/depth conversion and a geological model ready for reservoir modeling. SKUA 2009 will connect to Paradigm SeisEarth via the new Epos framework, currently in development. |
