Business news for the week of 7 January 2009 Past news briefs TGS announces 3D project in central and eastern Gulf of Mexico 5 January 2009—TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company announced that it is acquiring a new multiclient 3D survey in the DeSoto Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico. Named “Hernando,” the new survey covers a 300 OCS block area. The MV BOS Arctic has already acquired approximately 25% of the project and is scheduled to complete the acquisition in May 2009. The project deliverables will include prestack time migration as well as anisotropic Kirchhoff and wave-equation prestack depth migrations. Gravity data are also being collected along with the seismic data. Ingrain opens digital rock physics lab in Brazil 5 January 2009—Houston-based digital rock physics company Ingrain announced the opening of its second digital rock physics lab, to be located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.â¨Patricia de Lugao will manage Ingrain’s Brazil operation. De Lugao will supervise the Ingrain geologists who are responsible for conducting analyses and working with oil and gas companies.â¨Ingrain also announced plans to continue its expansion into the areas of oil and gas exploration and production including the Middle East and Canada. TGS begins 2D regional multiclient project in west Africa 6 January 2009—TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company announced that it has begun acquiring a new 8600-km multiclient survey offshore west Africa; the survey includes long-offset 2D seismic, gravity, and magnetic data. This regional program ties to the recent Jubilee discovery on the west side of Ghana and extends across shallow and deepwater acreage that is not currently under lease. The project is designed to help further define the extent of the petroleum system through the eastern prospective offshore area of Ghana. The project is being acquired by the MV Northern Genesis and is supported by industry funding. BP extends global access agreement with Paradigm 6 January 2009—Paradigm announced that BP has renewed its global access agreement with Paradigm to continue use of Paradigm Geolog and its modules. The Paradigm Geolog product suite provides petrophysical analysis tools, presentation graphics, modularity, well-data management, and geological interpretation. | | |
