Business news for the week of 14 January 2009 Past news briefs Gaffney, Cline & Associates expands its technical team 9 January 2009—Gaffney, Cline & Associates announced that Cesar Emilio Guzzetti has joined the firm as the manager for its operations in the southern cone of Latin America. Guzzetti has over 25 years of global project evaluation experience in negotiations, engineering, and operations with a focus on exploration projects and expanding production with developed fields. His career has allowed him to live or work in many places around the world, including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, India, Pakistan, China, Canada, and Central and South America. His most recent position was as engineering manager and deputy general manager for Hunt Oi in Peru. Prior to that Guzzetti held management and technical positions with Tecpetrol S. A. and Perez Company. He graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering, followed by a master of business administration and a doctor of engineering in petroleum engineering from Louisiana Tech University. geoLOGIC buys Whitehot Innovations, adds QFind Document Management module to geoSCOUT 12 January 2009—Users of geoSCOUT soon will be able to augment their mapping and analysis capabilities with point-and-click access to documentation for oil and gas properties without having to leave the map they are viewing. geoLOGIC systems has purchased the assets of Whitehot Innovations Corporation. The purchase includes all proprietary technology and surrounding assets. Four Whitehot staff, including company president Lori Adams, have already made the transition to geoLOGIC and are working on the team responsible for the integration of Whitehot’s QFind Document Management asset with geoLOGIC’s signature product, geoSCOUT. Adams has some 20 years of industry experience, including 10 years in management roles and experience in new product line development. In 2001, she joined Rapid Technology to oversee product development and large-scale technology projects specifically in oil and gas. Adams was instrumental in the building and subsequent sale of Rapid Technology’s RapiData product. She started Whitehot Innovations in 2007 after purchasing the newly commercial QFind asset from Rapid Technology. | | |
