Business news for the week of 17 August 2009 News section front Past news briefs Seismic crew survey reports Ascend Geo announces sale of Ultra cable-free seismic acquisition system 10 August 2009—Ascend Geo, LLC announced that it has signed an agreement with AOA Geophysics, Inc., for the purchase of an Ultra G5TM cable-free land acquisition system. The system will be used by AOA in the U.S. on a diverse range of land seismic applications. The first projects will provide critical imaging for CO2 sequestration reconnaissance in the Northeastern US and other data acquisition in the Marcellus resource play, including 3-C recording. CGGVeritas signs Western Australia R&D agreement 18 August 2009—CGGVeritas has signed a research and development agreement with the Western Australian Energy Research Alliance, an oil and gas research alliance within the Asia-Pacific region. CGGVeritas signed the agreement with the three partners that form the alliance: the University of Western Australia, CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization), and Curtin University of Technology, on 6 August in Perth, Australia. | | |
