Business news for the week of 1 April 2009 Past news briefs EMGS signs global frame agreement with Shell 30 March 2009—Electromagnetic Geoservices signed a global frame agreement with Shell Exploration and Production for the provision of electromagnetic services for the next year, with optional extensions for two additional years. The majority of the EM services performed for Shell will focus on EMGS’s unique 3D capabilities. TerraSpark and True Oil sign interpretation software agreement 1 April 2009—TerraSpark Geosciences announced that True Oil has purchased TerraSpark's Insight Earth software suite. The Insight Earth solution provides TerraSpark’s customers with 3D seismic interpretation technology that enables visualization-guided interpretation of both structure and stratigraphy in an integrated workflow. ffA establishes a U.S. subsidiary 3 April 2009—ffA (Foster Findlay Associates) has established a wholly owned subsidiary, Foster Findlay Associates. ffA will provide software support and services to ffA’s United States-based clients from its new office premises in Houston. EMGS awarded surveys in the Norwegian Sea 3 April 2009—Electromagnetic Geoservices has been awarded contracts by two exploration and production companies to conduct EM surveys in the Norwegian Sea. The surveys will start immediately and will be carried out using the new purpose-built EM vessel BOA Thalassa. EMGS expects that the work will be completed in April. Vice chairman Francis Gugen proposed as new PGS chairman 3 April 2009—Jens Ulltveit-Moe has notified the PGS nomination committee and board of directors that he intends to step down as board chairman at the coming annual general meeting on 14 May 2009. Ulltveit-Moe has been the chairman of the board of directors in PGS since September 2002. The nomination committee of PGS has asked the vice chairman of the board, Francis Gugen to be the nominated candidate for the position. | | |
