The 3D work includes operations with a second SCAN seismic vessel that, during the course of the survey, will be mobilized as a dedicated source vessel to obtain 3D seismic coverage beneath fixed obstructions within the program area. Duration of the project is estimated at 3.5 months, of which utilization of the source vessel and its transits is approximately one month. The project also includes data processing and interpretation services. SCAN will receive payments as data is delivered, no later than end of February 2010. NCS SubSea buys Sonardyne Scout 22 June 2009—Marine navigation services company NCS SubSea, based in Houston, has invested in Sonardyne Scout-Pro USBL (ultra-short baseline) acoustic positioning technology for an ocean-bottom seismic survey offshore Kazakhstan. The order also includes acoustic beacons, wideband submini (WSM) tracking transponders, lightweight acoustic release transponders, and Sonardyne’s HydroPos navigation software. Sonardyne’s HydroPos navigation software remotely controls the Scout USBL system. It manages acoustic transponders deployed and creates preplot data for the system to follow and search for the transponders along the cable. Position solutions are calculated in HydroPos and can be output in various industry standard file formats. Ionian University of Greece expands geophysical software resources 24 June 2009—Effective immediately, the University of Greece’s 150 students and 4 faculty members in its AVARTS department are granted unlimited use to GEDCO’s geophysical software, namely VISTA 2D/3D Seismic Data Processing and OMNI 3D Seismic Survey Design & Modeling. As part of its Global University Partnership Program, GEDCO has supported more than 25 academic and research institutions by providing geophysical solutions and entrusting students with the tools they need to become resourceful geophysicists. In August 2009, GEDCO will release versions 9.0 of its signature geophysical software products. New product features will be publicly presented at the SEG Annual Meeting in Houston from 25–30 October. | | |
