HS and GDM announce oil and gas pipeline network offering for easier Canadian pipeline analysis, management and reporting 27 July 2011—IHS in conjunction with Geomatics Data Management (GDM), a Calgary-based provider of Canadian pipeline, facilities and roads data, has released a new suite of products that provides users a comprehensive network of Canadian wells, pipelines and facilities available through IHS AccuMap and the IHS Information Hub. The first component of the offering includes IHS Incident Manager, which helps operations personnel and environmental health and safety professionals collect, assess, report, and manage incident details and historical information including flaring, venting, spills, and public complaints.
TGS announces second expansion of 3D multiclient seismic data library in the Barents Sea 26 July 2011—TGS has commenced the acquisition of an extension of its multiclient 3D seismic data in the Hoop Fault Complex area of the Barents Sea. This extension is to the west of the previously announced industry funded Hoop Fault Complex survey and will add 3,391 km2to the existing data in the area. Upon completion of the expanded project, TGS will have over 7,300 km2of contiguous multiclient 3D data over the Hoop Fault Complex. In conjunction with this multiclient survey, TGS will also acquire approximately 1,100 km2of seismic data on a proprietary basis for a TGS customer. Acquisition of the data will be performed by the M/V Polar Duke towing 10 x 6,000 m streamers with 75 m cable separation and acquisition is scheduled to complete during late 2011. Data processing will be performed by TGS and will be available to clients from mid 2012.
GeoScienceWorld appoints Alix Vance as executive director 26 July 2011—GeoScienceWorld, an Internet resource for research and communications in the geosciences, appointed Alix Vance executive director as of August 1, 2011. Vance is formerly the president of Architrave Consulting and chief operating officer at The Center for Education Reform, creators of The Media Bullpen. She is a member of the board of directors of The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), where she co-chairs the "IN" Conference, and co-authors SSP's blog, The Scholarly Kitchen. In addition, Vance serves on the editorial board of Learned Publishing, the journal of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP).
Spectraseis opens Calgary office 28 July 2011—Spectraseis announced the opening of its third North American office in Calgary, Canada and the appointment of Todd Chuckry as country manager for Canada. The move follows the company's opening of offices in Houston and Denver earlier this year. |
