Business News for the week of 22 August 2012 News section front TGS commences multiclient 3D survey in Faroe Shetland Basin 22 August 2012—TGS has commenced acquisition of a 3D multiclient survey covering 1520 km2 in quads 208 and 217 of the Faroe Shetland Basin on the UK Continental Shelf, West of Shetlands. The Erlend West 2012 (EW12) survey is the industry's first 3D survey in this northern area and covers the westernmost margin of the Erlend Basin. The project builds on the improved imaging shown within the reprocessed TGS North Sea Renaissance 2D data. The EW12 3D survey covers both held acreage and open blocks, and expands on TGS' 3D coverage in this developing petroleum province. The seismic data are being acquired by the M/V Polar Duchess. A fast track data volume will be available for delivery and licensing early 2013.
UTEC appoints new Louisiana operations manager 22 August 2012—UTEC appointed Daniel Boone as its Louisiana-based operations manager. Boone will be based out of UTEC's Lafayette office. His main responsibilities as operations manager will be to execute safe and profitable projects for UTEC as well as building UTEC's client base while maintaining and improving existing local client relations. Boone has spent the past 12 years working in the survey industry, based in the Gulf of Mexico, and has held numerous positions from offshore surveyor to product line manager for dive support and construction.
FairfieldNodal responds to fisherman in distress 22 August 2012—As the crew aboard the FairfieldNodal Damon Chouest seismic vessel conducted a deepwater ocean-bottom nodal survey near Port Fourchon, Louisiana, they received a distress call from a fishing vessel in the vicinity. The fishing vessel was seeking medical assistance for a fisherman who had been injured. FairfieldNodal responded immediately, transferring the injured man to their vessel, where the crew was able to stabilize him before the US Coast Guard helicopter arrived and transported him to a medical facility.
New contract award for Cecon ASA 28 August 2012—GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. has issued a letter of intent to Cecon NL BV to install rigid pipelines on three projects totaling 57 km in the Dutch Sector of the North Sea in the first half of 2013. Cecon will execute pipeline installation with the new DP pipelay and heavy-lift vessel Sampson, delivered from shipyard after upgrading early August 2012. Cecon will perform project management, including subcontractors and engineering from the Dutch office in Leiden. |
