In connection with the name change, the company changed its NASDAQ ticker symbol to "GEOS." The name change is a result of OYO Corporation U.S.A.'s recent sale of its stake in the company in February of this year. The company is no longer affiliated with OYO Corporation U.S.A. or its parent company OYO Corporation. Historically, no related party financial transactions between the company and OYO Corporation U.S.A. or OYO Corporation have been material.
FairfieldNodal begins "super crew" ocean-bottom nodal survey 26 September 2012—FairfieldNodal's data acquisition division has signed a contract with a major oil and gas company to conduct a large-scale, rich-azimuth, ocean-bottom survey in the Gulf of Mexico. Operations have already begun on this program, which encompasses approximately 2000 km2. The 3D/4C survey will take advantage of FairfieldNodal's Z700 nodes, which can be deployed safely and efficiently, even in heavily congested or obstructed waters. The crew will begin the survey using New Venture as its source vessel and C-Pacer for node handling. Eventually, FairfieldNodal's newest vessel, European Supporter, will join them, nearly doubling the number ofnodes available. European Supporter has been specially designed and outfitted as a hybrid vessel, giving it the flexibility to function as both a source vessel and its own node handler. The "super crew" will deploy more than 4200 Z700 nodes on a single patch, utilizing two source vessels. Survey acquisition is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete, with plans to illuminate both shallow and deep targets.
EMGS commences West of Shetland basalt mapping survey 1 October 2012—Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA has commenced a fully prefunded multiclient survey in the West of Shetland area. The vessel Atlantic Guardian will acquire controlled-source electromagnetic and magnetotelluric data for a minimum of three weeks in an area where basalt layers make the interpretation of seismic data challenging.
COMSOL multiphysics 4.3a released 1 October 2012—COMSOL introduces Version 4.3a of COMSOL Multiphysics, its flagship software for modeling and simulating physics-based systems. With version 4.3a COMSOL introduces LiveLink for Excelto connect multiphysics results with spreadsheets. New modules for analyzing fatigue and for importing ECAD files are included in Version 4.3a as is the new LiveLink for Solid Edge, a CAD software from Siemens PLM Software. Additionally, all of the more than 30 application-specific COMSOL add-on modules for mechanical, electrical, fluid, and chemical modeling and simulation sees major new upgrades. COMSOL Multiphysics 4.3a will be available for download starting October 8. |
