Business News for the week of 28 June 2012 News section front AGI's Big Ideas in Geoscience video wins three awards 22 June 2012—The Nine Big Ideas from the Earth Science Literacy Principles to life, won three awards: Digital Video (DV) Winner in Education, DV Winner inNature/Wildlife, and Videographer Award of Excellence. AGI has received several video awards in the last few years for its video productions. They include six Telly Awards, six Videographer Awards, two Marcom Awards, and four DV Awards. A Big Ideas in Geoscience DVD version has been distributed to secondary schools across the nation, as well as to a range of other formal and informal science education settings. It is also accessible on related Web sites, YouTube, and TeacherTube. AGI has supported the video by linking each of the Nine Big Ideas to classroom activities on the Earth Science Week Web site: www.earthsciweek.org. The project was made possible through grants to AGI from Occidental Petroleum for production and Marathon Oil for distribution.
Dolphin first 3D multiclient survey in the Barents Sea 25 June 2012—Dolphin Geophysical in cooperation with Searcher Seismic is about to commence acquisition of 2000 km2 of high-resolution 3D multiclient data over open acreage in the Barents Sea using Dolphin's 12 streamer high-capacity 3D seismic vessel, Polar Duke. The blocks and data coverage were nominated and designed for the upcoming licensing round in Norway by precommitting clients working with Dolphin and Searcher designing.
IHS opens data transformation center in Houston 26 June 2012—IHS has opened the IHS Data Transformation Center in Houston. The secure facility is home to IHS electronic data transformation (EDT) services, which transform hard copy records such as well files, paper logs, maps, seismic sections, legal documents, and reports into proprietary, globally available, unlimited access, secure electronic databases. IHS EDT services aggregates, digitizes, corrects and standardizes energy information and applies it to customers' collections of disparate, multiformat proprietary E&P data. The 25,000 ft2 center is a centralized, secure facility that will serve the IHS global customer base. |
