SEG publications preserved

SEG is ensuring that its online publications will be preserved and available to future scholars, researchers, and students.

The Society has contracted with Portico, a not-for-profit digital preservation service that will make contents of the SEG Digital Library available through participating libraries if regular publication becomes interrupted.

The agreement covers Geophysics, The Leading Edge, SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts, the Journal of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics, and the Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems Proceedings. The latter two are publications of the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS).

SEG has delivered the most recent three years of these publications to Portico, and the rest of the SEG Digital Library content will be archived within the next few years.

With the inclusion of the SEG and EEGS publications, more than 10,500 e-journals and 28,500 e-books from 87 publishers on behalf of more than 2000 societies and associations have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of titles and participating publishers is available on the Portico Web site.
