Welcome to the Online Help Community!

SEG's Online eCommunities provide the perfect platform for members of the geosciences community to share and collaborate with others who have similar professional backgrounds. And the best place to get started with an SEG eCommunity is here at the SEG Online Help Community. The SEG Online Help Community is your one-stop shop for information, documentation, and training designed to assist you in managing your online profile and account features. Ultimately, the Online Help Community can help you to engage with your peers in a meaningful way.

The Online Help Community contains three components designed to help you as you participate in SEG eCommunities:

  • Guides and Videos—For more detailed information about managing your profile or creating and maintaining an eCommunity, view these short videos right from your computer. You can also access downloadable documents that provide step-by-step, concrete instructions to help you accomplish your online goals.
  • Forum—The Online Help Community Forum provides an online "meeting space," where you can initiate or take part in an existing conversation with other members of the eCommunity. Tip of the Week

post – to publish a message in an online forum.

Tip: There are three links located at the top right-hand side of a post that a user can use to post a reply to a discussion thread: Reply, Reply with Quote, and Quick Reply. The Reply link will provide you with the same options as posting a new thread, such as tags and attaching files. The Reply with Quote link is the same as the Reply link, except that the post that you are replying to will be inserted at the top of your reply Body in quotes. This is a useful method of replying when the original post is lengthy or poses several questions and the reply only pertains to a specific portion of the original post. Simply remove the portions of the original post that are irrelevant before typing your message and publishing. Finally, the Quick Reply is a fast way of replying to a post without utilizing any of the standard options. When used, the Quick Reply will only provide a Body section.
