Activities at the two-day Student Expo include

  • Open poster sessions on geology and geophysics, followed by poster awards
  • Multiple field trip and short course options
  • Company-sponsored Ice Breaker
  • A potentially full day of interviews

Please note that this event is only for students in geosciences or related fields. Posters must be related to geophysics, geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and earth & environmental science. Only the first 200 poster abstracts will be accepted. Students are requested to submit their resumes and poster abstracts in advance of the meeting. This allows companies to identify candidates with the required skill sets.

This event is open to current students and recent graduates of Spring or Summer 2015.

Geosciences faculty members are encouraged to attend.

In addition, the 65th Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies (GCAGS) Annual Convention will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center on 20-22 September 2015, right before our event. The 65th Annual GCAGS convention will feature Gulf Coast area oil, gas, and environmental topics, with the intent that Gulf Coast geoscientists will expand their technical training, knowledge and networking during the convention. For more information, please visit: http://www.gcagshouston.com/

Thanks to generous funding by GCAGS sponsors (Five States and Shell), AAPG/SEG Student Expo student attendees may attend one day of the GCAGS Annual Convention at no charge on Tuesday September 22, 2015. Students will be able to participate in GCAGS professional talks, gain admission to the Exhibits Hall, view posters, and attend the Education Forum on the foundational Gulf Coast (featuring a business forum, a Geo Generations panel discussion with BEG Director Dr. Scott Tinker, and geoscience presentations by industry leaders). The GCAGS Steering Committee hopes this will allow students to learn about the energy industry and network with seasoned industry professionals.
