This traditional event of the SEG Annual Meeting, this year on the evening of November 5th, was an enjoyable gathering of friends—which included a reception, dinner, and awards presentation. Tamas Nemeth, SEG Editor, served as emcee for the evening. President Bob Hardage presented plaques for best paper, best oral paper, and best poster paper along with certificates for numerous honorable mentions in each category: Best Paper in The Leading Edge in 2011 Seismic anisotropy in microseismic event location analysis Honorable Mention, The Leading Edge Resolution on multiples: Interpreters' perceptions, decision making, and multiple attenuation Honorable Mention, The Leading Edge Hydrophysical investigation for groundwater at the Dayspring Children's Village, South Africa Best Paper in Geophysics in 2011 Investigation of injection-induced seismicity using a coupled fluid flow and rate/state friction model Honorable Mention, Geophysics Full-azimuth subsurface angle domain wavefield decomposition and imaging Part I: Directional and reflection image gathers Honorable Mention, Geophysics Focused-source electromagnetic survey versus standard CSEM: 3D modeling in complex geometries Honorable Mention, Geophysics Quest for consistency, symmetry, and simplicity—The legacy of Albert Tarantola Honorable Mention, Geophysics Scale properties of the seismic wavefield perspectives for full-waveform matching Best Oral Paper Presented at the 2011 SEG Annual Meeting Multi-level continuous active source seismic monitoring (ML-CASSM): Mapping shallow hydrofracture evolution at a TCE contaminated site Honorable Mention An improved gradient computation for adjoint wave-equation reflection tomography Best Poster Paper Presented at the 2011 Annual Meeting Compensating for time stepping errors locally in the pseudo-analytical method using normalized pseudo-Laplacian Honorable Mention Hydrogeophysics and the settlement of San Marcos Pueblo, NM: Investigations by the SAGE geophysical field course Another milestone celebration was the 30th Anniversary of The Leading Edge. Dean Clark has served as TLE Editor since the first issue was published in June 1982. The crowd celebrated the newest Publications achievement: the launch of a new journal. Interpretation is a peer-reviewed journal for advancing the practice of subsurface interpretation. The journal was approved in May 2012 by the SEG Executive Committee and will be published quarterly beginning May 2013. Papers will be published online as they are accepted, edited, and composed. Look for the first papers to be published online in December 2012. Interpretation Editors include Yonghe Sun, Bob A. Hardage, Hongliu H. Zeng, William L. Abriel, John J.
