SEG Goes Digital

The digital evolution continues with this year's Annual Meeting

In recent years it has become more and more common to see people walking around with phones in their hands, and the SEG Annual Meeting is no different... except that they're all looking at the same thing.

This year's Annual Meeting marked the debut of the SEG 2012 Annual Meeting beta app, a handy gadget designed to place schedules, maps, news, and information in the palm of your hand - literally.

With its easy interface and cross-platform usability, this mobile app seems to be one of the unexpected hits of this year's meeting, with countless attendees and exhibitors alike making it their number one tool for navigating the often daunting selection of programs, sessions and events on offer at the SEG Annual Meeting.

But while the mobile app may be one of the brightest new stars of the SEG digital offering for Annual Meeting, it is not by any means the only example of how SEG is always evolving to take advantage of new opportunities and new technology.

Times Square meets Mandalay Bay

With the Annual Meeting's latest feature, staring at the wall can now be considered a productive activity.

While Annual Meeting events have taken over almost every corner of the Mandalay Bay South Convention Centre, the open lobby of the 2nd floor exhibition center serves as a comfortable gathering space for attendees in between sessions. After all, that's why SEG has made this space the home for its ever-popular Book Mart.

This year, however, attendees in the lobby can feast their eyes on the Digital Wall, a massive screen offering news, live feeds from SEG Annual Meeting social media, and a varied selection of presentations about SEG products and services that may have escaped their notice. With its central location and rich content, the Digital Wall adds a critical piece to the ongoing effort to keep our attendees informed.

A Technical Program that follows you home

When they say "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" they're clearly not talking about the SEG Annual Meeting Technical Program. Before the first chairs were placed in the first ballroom at Mandalay Bay, almost all of the expanded abstracts, e-posters, and poster presentations from this year's Annual Meeting were made available to members and other interested parties right from the SEG home page.

For those not inclined to web surfing, these abstracts can also be purchased right from the SEG Book Mart on a handy USB "thumb" drive bearing the beautiful SEG Las Vegas logo.

But for those wishing to fully relive the grandeur and glory of SEG in Vegas, the Technical Program DVD-ROM is a must-have memento of this year's annual meeting. Containing almost 200 technical program presentations with audio recordings to match, this resource is easy to use and a valuable reference.
