W-2: The Best of D&P Forum: Unconventional Resources: Multiscale, Multidisciplinary Integration of Subsurface Data

SEG 2012 Annual Meeting Technical Program

Date: Thursday, 8 November 2012
Time: 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Location: Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Room: Mandalay Bay Ballroom C
Organizer: Mark Houston, Martin Terrell, and John Eastwood
Through the support of the SEG Development and Production Committee

Description

The 2012 D&P Forum explored technical issues in the Multiscale, Multidisciplinary Integration of Subsurface Data for Unconventional Resources. Maximizing the full potential of all subsurface information from multiple disciplines and disparate scales continues to challenge geophysicists, geologists and development engineers.

The well attended, five day meeting in Banff, Alberta featured 50 oral and poster presentations on:

  • Case histories highlighting integration and scaling issues for shale gas, oil sands and tight liquids-rich reservoirs
  • Reservoir characterization and performance prediction from integrated geophysical, geologic and petrophysical data
  • Quantitative combination of passive and 3D/4D seismic data with geologic and production data

The registered attendance of in excess of 80 people represented a range of disciplines including academic, industry and government colleagues.

The Best of the D&P 2012 Workshop will present a half-day summary of key presentations drawn from this year's forum such as:

  • Tight Liquids – Unlocking the Value of Reservoir Characterization
  • Tight Liquids – Modeling Stress Sensitivity of Shale Reservoirs
  • Oil Sands – SAGD Performance Indicators Derived from Well Logs and Seismic Data
  • Microseismic – How Can We Optimize Production?
  • Data Integration – Anisotropic Data at Multiple Scales
  • Borehole Geophysics – Surface to Borehole EM
