José Antonio Escalera-Alcocer Deputy Director of Exploration at Pemex Exploration & Production
José Antonio Escalera Alcocer obtained a geology degree from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) and training in Play and Prospect Evaluation, Total Quality Management and Business and Asset Management.
He joined Pemex Exploration and Production in 1982, where he began his career as a wellsite and operations geologist. He has held various technical and management positions, including leader of geochemical, play and reservoir evaluation studies, geosciences team coordinator, and Manager of Reynosa Exploration Asset, Risk Analysis, and of the Poza Rica-Altamira and Burgos integrated assets. Since 2007 he is the Deputy Director of Exploration at Pemex E&P.
During his tenure, Pemex E&P has incorporated 3P oil reserves for 9 BBOE from 2007 to 2012, allowing 100% restoration of the extracted reserves at 3P level for the last five years. Furthermore, in 2012 Pemex E&P has estimated the potential of unconventional prospective resources (shale oil and gas), and defined an exploratory strategy.
He is an active member of the Mexican Associations of Petroleum Geologists, Exploration Geophysicists and Petroleum Engineers, Mexican Geological Society, as well as, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Society of Petroleum Engineers.
