W-1: Best of the D & P Forum
Thursday, 26 September 1:30 - 5:00 pm
Organizers: Martin Terrell and Leo Eisner E-mail Contact: martin.j.terrell@exxonmobil.com Through the support of the SEG Development and Production Committee
The emergence of unconventional resources has shifted the global energy balance. While technology has helped unlock this key resource, there are still challenges to fully optimizing production and issues of public perception that need to be addressed. Geophysics and geophysicists can play a key role in solving these challenges and responsibly address public perception from a scientific standpoint. This workshop is a collection of the best presentations from the 2013 SEG Development and Production Forum held in Krakow, Poland in July. The forum brought together scientists from industry, government, and academia to discuss key challenges in dealing with unconventional reservoirs. Over 35 talks and additional posters addressed topics including petrophysics, rock physics, reservoir performance, monitoring techniques, and public perception. From these, a selection of approximately ten presentations and posters will be presented with opportunity for open discussion.
