SEG Foundation Annual Meeting Travel Grants are designed primarily for students presenting papers at the SEG Annual Meeting. In addition to having the opportunity to engage in the many activities available at SEG's Annual Meeting, students receiving a Foundation Annual Meeting Travel Grant award will receive a per diem, hotel accommodations, and travel to the Meeting.

Students applying must:

  • Submit their paper (abstract) through the SEG Technical Program.
  • Be an SEG student member, and must have been an SEG student member for at least one year.

Colorado School of Mines Students will be given first priority, in accordance with the donor's request.

Application process

Travel Grant applications for the 2013 SEG Annual Meeting will be posted on the SEG Web site beginning 1 January 2013.

Students must submit a paper through the SEG Technical Program for the 83rd SEG Annual Meeting in Houston, 2013, to be eligible to apply.  For more information about submitting to the SEG Technical Program, visit the call for papers page.

Required applicant eligibility
  1. The applicant must be an active and current SEG Student Member for at least one year.
  2. The applicant must be pursuing a degree in Geosciences.
  3. The applicant must have above average grades.
  4. The applicant must have submitted a paper through the SEG Technical Program.
Required applicant documentation
  • Letter of recommendation in support of the applicant from a faculty advisor or a professor with whom the applicant is academically acquainted.
  • Academic transcripts for the most recent three years of the applicant's university study. (Graduate students will need to provide their undergraduate transcripts.)
