Dear Colleagues and friends,

Are you as passionate about our profession as I am? Here is a chance to give back something to a profession that has been so rewarding for us all. As you may know, the SEG Foundation was established in 1987 as an educational and charitable affiliate of SEG and has long supported student scholarships and programs like the Distinguished Instructor Short Course, summer field camps, student travel grants, and projects of special merit. Our successful 2006–2008 Major Gifts Campaign fundraising has enabled the SEG to expand our reach into the following worthy projects:

• SEG Online
• Student Leadership Symposium
• Student Education Program
• Geoscientists Without Borders^®
• Honorary Lecturers

But now we need operational funding to help support projects like these. So I am asking you today to participate in our SEG Foundation 2009 Annual Appeal.
